One word answer: JEALOUSY! You don't believe me? Lets take a look through the stories of the Bible . . . .
The first sign of jealousy in the Bible is how Lucifer wanted to BE God so God threw him out of heaven and down to earth. Then satan in the form of a snake tempted Eve by saying (paraphrasing) "God only said you shouldn't eat from this tree because He doesn't want you to be like Him" thereby inciting her to jealousy - she wanted more than what she had - she wanted to be able to know everything like God did. Of course Adam followed her sin, and the devil gained the authority over the earth that God had given to Adam (God had given Adam dominion over the earth, symbolized by how God told Adam to name all of the beasts of the earth). And so with the fall of man and the victory satan gained that day, satan's jealous nature became a prevalent force upon this earth.
This is shown right away in the first case of murder between Cain, Adam's first son, and Abel, their second son. Why did Cain do this? Because Abel's sacrifice pleased God. Why did it please God more than Cain's? Because Abel's pointed toward the shedding of blood (God's plan of the coming Messiah and His sacrifice) and Cain's represented man's hard work at the things of this world. God tried to tell Cain that his anger about God's "favoritism" towards Abel's gift would get Cain into trouble but Cain would not listen and killed his brother. Cain was angry at God because he didn't think God should be able to have that kind of authority to discipline him so he acted out in jealousy toward his brother.
God then goes on to show us the story of Job, a righteous and rich man. Satan was jealous of the relationship that Job had with God. Satan said to God "Sure Job obeys you, look how you've given him everything he has". God knew Job's heart was faithful so he allowed satan to test Job and take almost everything he had away from him. Then, as if that attack of jealousy wasn't bad enough, along comes three of Job's "friends" who really deep down were not friends at all. When Job was rich and successful they were able to show a friendship-side to him, probably because they did not have control of his prosperous situation, so they felt forced by society to treat him with respect. But now, here's Job, sitting in sores, and sorrow beyond words. They wait until he finally speaks some words of grief and they begin taking turns telling him why they are better than he is - spiritually, that is. Their true colors of green - envy, aka jealousy - come pouring out of their mouths at the very time when Job really needed love and support. The devil's jealousy came onto Job not only in the striking down of his family, livestock, and health but it also was unleashed through the tongues and temperament of Job's visiting "consolers".
We move on to another story where Joseph, son of Jacob, one of the descendents of Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel, was favored by God. This became apparent when Joseph told his family the dreams he had been given by God which showed that all of his older brothers would bow down to him in worship someday - even his own father would! Well his brothers hated him for this and one day decided to kill him. Instead, at the last minute, they sold him to a group of traveling merchants who ended up selling Joseph to Potiphar, a wealthy man in Egypt. But the jealousy of his brothers was not to be Joseph's only test - Potiphar's wife lusted after Joseph and tried to force him to be with her. He ran away from her and she, jealous that she did not get what she wanted from him, told her husband a lie that Joseph had tried to rape her. Potiphar had Joseph imprisoned for several years before he was released to interpret some dream for Pharoah, and when he did this accurately he was exalted to the highest position in Egypt - second only to Pharoah. In the end of this story Joseph's dreams came true and his brothers and father did bow down to him as God had shown him years earlier in those dreams. Satan tried to take from Joseph what God had planned for him and he used jealousy and revenge to try and do that.
Fast forward to many years later, after the descendents had left Egypt through the miraculous exodus God orchestrated under the leadership of Moses, and the inhabitation of the promised land in Canaan, the Israelite people asked God for a king so they can be like the other nations of the world. This was jealousy. Israel believed the lies of the world around them that said "We have it so much better than you because we have a king that we can see and serve". God was hurt by their request for a king because He was their King and He was a good and righteous King, unlike the heathen kings of the world which made slaves of their people and extracted large taxes from them. But God gave them Saul in answer to what they wanted and he was head & shoulders above any other man in looks and stature, the Bible says, just like people like when they think of a leader. But Saul turned out to be a rebellious king against God and God told him that He would replace him on the throne with a king that would have a true heart of worship for God. God had Samuel anoint David and David went to live in Saul's house after he slew Goliath, thereby freeing the whole nation of Israel from slavery to the Phillistines. But Saul got jealous when he heard the women singing "Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands" and he began to try and kill David. David spent years running from Saul before Saul was finally killed in battle and David was enthroned as king. Saul's first downfall wasn't the jealousy of David, though it appears that is the case - no, his jealousy began when he didn't obey God who told him to kill all of the spoils of the war from the Amalekites. Saul decided to keep the best of the spoils and he even had a monument built to himself the following morning after the battle victory. This shows the devil's original sin of pride leads to rebellion which then acts out in jealousy - taking and trying to take the things of God. Saul had his many issues with this!
David was a good king until he became ensnared in jealousy himself. One day when he was supposed to be at battle, he spied from his window a beautiful woman bathing. He summoned her to come and visit him, and even though this woman was married to another man, David lay with her. This brought a curse on David's kingdom that later played out when one of David's sons wanted to sleep with his half sister. Instead of doing the proper thing as was the custom back then, asking David for his half-sister's hand in marriage, he raped her. This caused David's other son Absalom to get revenge on this half-brother by killing him and then he fled from David's kingdom so he would not be killed. A couple of years later, after Joab had convinced David to allow Absalom to come back to live in the kingdom, Absalom began to sway the people to him. He was handsome beyond any man in the kingdom and he would charm the people by meeting them one-on-one to say "he cared about their issues". Absalom betrayed his dad by having some men announce he was now king and David fled Israel before they could kill him. Absalom later was killed in this struggle for the kingdom but not before he built a monument to himself - again pride, jealousy and revenge ruined a man's life.
David was reinstated as king, followed at his death by Solomon, who was the wisest and richest man to ever live on the earth. But Solomon began to marry women from heathen nations and they brought in their false gods and Solomon became tormented in his deep thinking on life matters, as evidenced in the book of Ecclesiastes. Solomon knew he was not to stray from Jewish women (who worshipped the One True God) but he apparently had the jealousy of his father in that he wanted women that were off-limits to him.
Following his reign were many kings and a divided Israel, with many wars and droughts because the Israelites loved the idols and false gods of the heathen people's that now lived among them. The Israelites knew they were not to worship these other gods because back before any of the kings, God had given them the 10 Commandments through Moses and the 2nd commandment said "You shall have no other gods before me". So God sent many prophets and told them to repent of their ways, but they persecuted these prophets and killed some of them rather than give up their lust for these idols.
Fast forward a bit to the time of Queen Esther - a beautiful young Jewish girl who had been chosen to be queen to a heathen king, King Ahauerus, who ruled over 127 provinces from India to Ethiopia. Esther's uncle Mordecai, would not bow to the King's first man, Haman, as Haman passed through the city beacause Mordecai knew it was sin to bow to anyone but God. Haman, a very prideful and ambitious man, was incensed that this Jewish peasant would not bow down when he passed by and he conspired against him. Haman went to the king and told him that the Jewish people were not good citizens because they worshipped their own God and would not be loyal to the king so they should be exterminated. The king gave his approval to this and a date was set for this massacre. But God had placed Esther in the castle "for such a time as this" and she was able to appeal to the king so that in the end the Jewish people were not annihilated like Haman had wanted. The jealousy of Haman was an example of how satan operates in a man, who like satan in the original sin, wanted to be worshipped instead of God.
Now lets enter into the New Testament, where I had planned to go all along. It shown no where more clearly how jealousy is at work here on earth than in the life story of Jesus Christ and in His church. As soon as Jesus was baptized by John, the Holy Spirit drew Him out to the dessert to be tempted for 40 days. Satan came to him and tried in three different ways to get Jesus to follow him, even bow down and worship him: Satan said 1) "If You are the Son of God, command these stones become bread", 2) If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down for it is written 'He shall give His angels charge over you", 3) "All these things (the devil was showing him the kingdoms of the world) I will give You if You will fall down and worship me". Jesus arose victorious from these temptations and being full of the Holy Spirit went on to preach in the towns and countrysides about the Kingdom of God. Jesus was kind and compassionate to everyone as he taught, healed and delivered the masses that He encountered on a daily basis.
But Jesus was harsh with the Pharisees, the Sadducees and the Religious Teachers: (The following non-consecutive quotes of Jesus taken from Matthew 23) "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works, for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They love the best places at feast, the best seats in the synagogues, greeting in the marketplaces and to be called by men, "Rabbi, Rabbi". But woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in." Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves."
Other than the obvious complaints that Jesus had against the Pharisees of leading others astray, He also talked to them harshly because He knew that they had hearts of jealousy (wanting the best in life) and it needed direct and harsh confrontation, if one of them were to get free from being a Pharisee. How can I say that its jealousy they were afflicted with? Because Jesus told a parable to show how the Pharisees were jealous: (Mark 12) "A man planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a place for the wine vat and built a tower, And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country. Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that he might receive some of the fruit of the vineyard from the vinedressers. And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Again he sent them another servant and at him they threw stones, wounded him in the head and sent him away shamefully treated. Again he sent them another and him they killed, and many others, beating some and killing some. Therefore still having one son, his beloved, he also sent him to them last saying. "They will respect my son." But those vinedressers said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come let us kill him and the inheritance will be ours'. The parable goes on to say that they killed that Son, which is exactly what the Pharisees did. Let's look at the words of the Bible in Matthew 27: 17 and 18 - Therefore when they (the Pharisees and religious leaders and mob who had brought Jesus to Pilate) had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas or Jesus who is called Christ?' For he (Pilate) knew that they had handed Him over because of envy (aka jealousy). But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said to him "Let Him be crucified!" Jealousy of Jesus was at the root of their calling for His death!
After Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, the church waited for the gift that Jesus told them would come to them who waited in Jerusalem. This came to the disciples after many days in prayer in the Upper Room, in the form of tongues of fire, which symbolized power from on-high. This was Pentecost and the beginning of church growth! The church then full of the power of God went out to witness about eternal life found in Jesus Christ. So great was their anointing from God that even Peter's shadow falling on people would heal them! This caused the Pharisees to become very jealous and begin persecuting the church: Acts 5:17 "Then the high priest rose up and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees) and they were filled with indignation (translated also as jealousy) and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.
This jealousy of the Pharisees and other religious leaders led to the first martyr named Stephen. (Acts 6) And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen disputing with Stephen and they were unable to resist the wisdom, and the Spirit, by which he spoke. They secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God" And they stirred up the people, the elders , and the scribes and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council." In Stephens discourse to the council, instead of just telling them about Jesus, he began at the beginning of the history of the Jewish people (mentioning in there the jealousy that sold Joseph into slavery) and going through it extensively but then suddenly he abruptly stopped and said to them: (Acts7:51) "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers." When they heard these things they were cut to the heart and they gnashed at him with their teeth. But being full of the Holy Spirit, Stephen gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God and he said , "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" At this they ran at him with one accord and they cast him out of the city and stoned him.
Saul, a Pharisee of Pharisees, was standing at the feet of Stephen when he was stoned. He went on to violently persecute Christians until one day he was miraculously converted to Christianity through a vision of Jesus Christ. Saul was renamed Paul and he became an Apostle to the Gentiles. Paul was now on the other end of persecution and jealousy: Acts 13: 45 "But when the Jews saw the multitudes (that had gathered to hear Paul preach to the Gentiles) they were filled with envy (aka jealousy) and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul."
Again in Acts 17:5 we see jealousy at work because of the person of Jesus Christ. "But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace and gathering a mob set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them (Paul and Silas) out to the people. But when they did not find them (Paul and Silas), they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, 'These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. Jason has harbored them and these are all acting contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king - Jesus."
In conclusion I show you the words of Jesus, probably the saddest He ever said: Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones whose who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! The sad fact was the Jewish people chose to follow the religious system the Pharisees, Sadducees and the Scribes had established rather than listen and follow Jesus. Think about it, here was the Messiah in the flesh, preaching and teaching right in people's faces, and doing mighty miracles, and they chose to follow the establishment.
Seems shocking but is it really? Don't we do this ourselves? Don't we tune our own ears and eyes onto what the world is doing around us and say "Hey, I want some of that!" Don't we also sometimes prefer the approval of man and the activities of this world, to the counsel of God to go His way and stay out of the world?
Jealousy, my friends, is one of the most lethal and secretive weapons satan uses against God's people. I have taken this couple of hours to expose jealousy, prompted by the Holy Spirit to do so, because in these last days, we must know this enemy and its schemes to steal our loyalty from God.
Jealousy can work behind the scenes to set up a Christian or it can come at you full force to destroy you, but what's saddest is when we go along blindly with its God-forsaking ways. Proverbs 27: 4 confirms jealousy is a powerful force: "Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent, But who is able to stand before jealousy?"
Stay in the Ark, stay in Christ, seek His counsel, follow His wisdom - He will protect you from the storms of satan to steal, kill and destroy you through the spirit of jealousy.
Amen, and to God be the glory!
Astrology - Divination based on the supposed influence of the stars upon human events. Astrology is the "art of judging the occult influence of the stars upon human affairs" The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary
Astrology is not to be confused with astronomy, the science that studies the size, movement, and composition of celestial bodies. Astrology, a pseudo science, claims that stars and other heavenly bodies influence human personality and activity and that the position of the celestial bodies at a given time can foretell future events in the lives of people. The Encyclopedia of New Age Beliefs
Astrology is an ancient fatalistic system of divination using the position of the planets, moon and sun in the twelve Zodiac positions at the moment of one's birth to gain occult or hidden knowledge of the future. The Watchman Expositor
Horoscope - The word means "scope of the hour". From your geographical place of birth and the date and hour when you were born, it is supposedly possible to calculate your future, and whether or not conditions are favorable for anything your propose to do, from a business transaction, a career, an airplane trip or a marriage. The horoscope claims to be your connection to the "universe" (a New Age term that replaces God with a force that handles destiny.) This is a worship of the heavens and the Bible forbids it - see verses below for horoscope.
What the Bible says about Astrology -
Deuteronomy 18:9 - 15 - When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire (pagan worship), who practices divination, sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft or casts spells, or who is a medium, or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet (Jesus) like me (Moses speaking) from among your brothers. You must listen to Him. (God confirmed this message of only listening to Jesus during the Transfiguration that Peter, John and James witnessed.)
Jeremiah 27: 9 - 10 - So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreter of dreams, your mediums or your sorcerers who tell you "You will not serve the king of Babylon. They prophecy lies to you that will only serve to remove you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish.
Isaiah 47: 13-14. - All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predications month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble, the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. (Last part of verse 15) Each of them goes on in his error, there is not one that can save you.
Some other Bible stories that show how pagan kings used astrologers: Daniel Chapter 2 through Chapter 5:8 and how they (and their " magic art") are powerless.
Horoscope - worship of the starry heavens condemned in:
Deuteronomy 17: 2-5 - If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshipped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take this man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death. (Now we don't stone people anymore but this passage shows how God really feels about the worship of the starry heavens.)
Job 31:26-28 - If I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, so that my heart ws secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage, then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.
Revelation 22: 15 Outside (of heaven) are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Other anti-horoscope verses: Job 31: 26- 28, II Kings 21: 2and3. Zephaniah 1:4 and 5.
As an ancient pagan system of divination, astrology easily traps people in occult practices and philosophy. The consequences of false predictions in all areas of life such as finance, relationships, and health have resulted in spiritistic influence, spirit possession or even death. The Encyclopedia of World Religions, Cults and the Occult.
Practicing divination of any sort puts curses on one's life. Lori MacGregor, from the school of hard knocks while deceived as an astrology following, tarot card reading, psychic visiting, channeler participant, eastern religion following, crystal energy drawing, rune playing, mind-visualizing, New Ager during my days in Los Angeles. Its taken me years to get free from the demonic influences/curses I brought on myself by "dabbling" in the New Age/Occult aka the magic arts.
Tarot Cards - the word tarot means "tablets of destiny". (The New Age teaches that destiny is a force of the universe - leaving the Bible's teachings altogether.) Although the Tarot was originally used as a game in northern Italy, it was quickly adopted as a tool of divination, and popularized by the occult sciences such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
Biblical responses to bringing a divination tool into one's home/employ - Deuteronomy 7:26, I John 2:15-17, Romans 12:1,2; II Corinthians 6:17, 19; and I Timothy 6:12.
Stay away from Tarot cards as you stay away from a serpent. J. Dominguez M.D.
Since these readings invariably lead a person away from the God of the Bible, and attempt to invade an area of knowledge God has determined should remain secret (the meaning of the word occult is "hidden knowledge:) we must conclude that they are demonic. Each of these 52 cards in a deck has a secret meaning and nicknames for a deck of cards used in tarot readings is "The Devil's Bible" and "The Devil's Picture Book." Some witches, psychics, and satan worshipers use tarot cards for divination (tell the future) and to cast spells and curses. The Encyclopedia of World Religions, Cults and the Occult.
Other related occult practices: Crystal balls, mind-reading, palm reading, tea leaf reading, I Ching, telepathy clairvoyance, numerology, metaphysics (study of the spirit world), white magic (casting spells for "good") and black magic. For more information of what the New Age/Occult/Magic Arts encompasses you can go to any book store to the New Age section and see all of the material they celebrate, which are forbidden practices in Christianity. You can also go to a Christian book store and see the many good books written to warn people of what to stay away from.
My final note: The New Age is how the devil has copied the Christian religion and he is deceiving the masses, taking people away from the Bible and Jesus Christ, sometimes slowly, step by step, other times like me in my 20's, like gang-busters where I ravenously read everything I could and became entrenched in its horrors. It nearly ruined my life for good, but Jesus Christ came along after years of my suffering from the effects of the demonic powers I had invited into my life, through the practice of magic arts, and He saved me and took me step by step out of the lies of the enemy and now I stay away from extra-Biblical practices like my life depends on it - because IT DOES!!! Praise Jesus who told me when He saved me that the Bible is 100% true - not just the New Testament but the whole Bible is 100% true!!! Stay within its teachings my friends and stay within God's blessings! I warn people with the love Christ has given me for those who are deceived like I was and/or those who may someday venture into the wrong path(s) of the magic arts.
Halloween came crashing into my week this year in a very real way. I don't like Halloween and do my best to ignore it, except I do hand out Christian tracts that appear to be scary cartoon stories, but really are a witness of Jesus Christ. But other than that, I change the channel when Halloween commercials, horror movies or Halloween themed t.v. shows come on. Since my real life encounters with demons through the New Age years ago, I don't mess with the occult world! But this week an item was turned into my office that would bring real life Halloween into view! This item happened to be a notebook with all kinds of materials on witchcraft! A woman (there was no name in the book but the handwriting was feminine) who is taking an online course (won't give the name of the school) in witchcraft had compiled her study course lessons for 13 chapters of the 4 year school program. Everyone was really shocked about this notebook, and freaked out! I wasn't shocked by it, but I was pretty freaked out to have it in my possession, (my desk area is where lost and found items are kept) but I decided I would rise above the "fear" thoughts that come over a person when they think of real live occult stuff and I decided to try and turn this into an opportunity to witness to this woman. I put into the notebook my written piece telling the Bible's stance on witchcraft and my Christian testimony. Then I prayed the woman would come back so maybe she could find my material and renounce her ways and get saved.
Now I am sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit so it suffices to say I can also feel evil when its near me - I am sensitive spiritually. So I had to pray against the evil spirits that I felt eminating in and near that notebook the first day but I felt strong in my conviction that I wanted that woman to get a chance to hear about Jesus so I left it near my desk. The second day I noticed while I was working that I kept thinking thoughts about L.A. , which I never do, so I realized it was the spirits associated with the notebook and I realized anew just how surrounded by witchcraft I was when I lived in L.A. (because of my lifestyle choices - no offense to any L.A. residents). By the end of the day, I made the decision that I needed to get rid of this book - my mind was feeling under attack. (And I am trying to prepare for an audit so I need to feel blessed by God, not dogged by the enemy to have a successful audit on my work)
On one hand I felt kind-of guilty about throwing out someone's lost and found item, but no one else wanted the book near them - not security, not maintenance, not anyone and also I had begun to think maybe this notebook was sent by the devil to dog me during my work and no one intends to come for it - that I was its assignment. Now before anyway says I am paranoid to think the enemy was trying to target me - I am not - witches target ministers all the time. Leslie Hale, a preacher in Tarpon Springs, had a witch come to his church and she went up to receive prayer from him and she tried to stab him with a knife. Other witches or satanists have come into churches and throw curses on the minister or the church itself - former witches tell of these types of assignments they were given to do. And I am doing some pretty bold outreach work lately - the enemy has not missed my ministry.
So I shredded each chapter and the "wish-list" this poor deceived woman had written that she hoped to achieve through casting spells. I threw the shredded papers and the notebook in the trash. I wasn't going to throw it away without shredding it because some other poor person may have found it and read it and gotten suckered into believing it. I still hope that if a person comes in to ask about whether her notebook was found I can use the opportunity to talk to her about Jesus Christ but since the book was found on the office building's exterior property, there's a real good chance no one knows to come into our office to retrieve it - or as I said - they were never going to come for it because I was meant to be dogged by it for as long as I was stupid enough to hang onto it.
Anyway, as we enter into Halloween this season, pray for the very real men and women who are deceived into thinking witchcraft is a valid religion. Its heart-breaking that they are so lost!
